The Bordeaux Grand Cru glass is designed for full-bodied, complex red wines with high tannin structure, ensuring a perfectly balanced tasting experience.

Originally created by 9th generation Claus J. Riedel as one of the first "wine-friendly" glasses, this generously sized bowl allows the bouquet to fully develop, while smoothing out the wine’s rough edges. The shape enhances fruit notes, minimizes bitterness from tannins, and creates harmony in structured red wines.

This sophisticated glass features a black crystal stem and a clear crystal base, combining both functionality and elegant aesthetics.

Introduced in 2008, the Sommeliers Black Tie collection marked the 50th anniversary of RIEDEL's iconic Sommeliers series. The red wine glasses in this collection stand out with their tall black stem and clear base, while the white wine glasses feature the reverse—a black base with a tall clear stem.

• Year of design: 2008
• Capacity: 860.0 ccm
• Height: 282.0 mm
• Handmade by master glassmakers, ensuring each piece is unique

Perfect for structured red wines, including Bordeaux blends, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Italian classics like Brunello di Montalcino and Montepulciano.

The Burgundy Grand Cru glass is perfect to support the balance of fragility and fresh compact fruit in light-bodied wines.

This shape was one of the original 'wine friendly' glasses designed by 9th generation Cluas J. RIEDEL. The wide tulip shape and slightly flared lip highlights the irresistible sweetness, whilst perfectly balancing the acidity and deemphasizing the alcohol, to create a perfect picture of the wine.

SOMMELIERS, the world’s first wine-friendly glass series, presents itself in new attire. SOMMELIERS BLACK SERIES COLLECTOR'S EDITION is made from black crystal glass. Adding cobalt and manganese turns the crystal glass black. This cools much quicker than transparent glass, posing an additional challenge for the glass makers. The manufacturing process is further complicated because the R-Black Series Collector's Edition has a red glass string overlaid with clear glass. Although the Black Series can obviously be used as a drinking glass, we see it more as a particularly beautiful design object, which highlights the unique styling and proportions of the Sommeliers series. The original Sommeliers series comprised 10 shapes. The shapes were determined by the age of the wine and the various wine qualities. The current glass series was adapted under the aegis of Georg J. RIEDEL, with special glass shapes being developed in workshops. Highly experienced wine experts, such as Robert Parker, or winemakers, such as Gaja, Guigal and Robert Mondavi, contributed their knowledge to help fine-tune the RIEDEL glass shapes. The Sommeliers shapes have since become a benchmark for the industry and are now copied by many other glass manufacturers.

Follow your nose and take a trip to the land of American whiskeys including bourbon, the best-known of them all.

Twelve small bottles encapsulate the main aromatic notes of America's iconic spirit:

1 honey, 2 rose, 3 tobacco leaf, 4 cherry, 5 orange, 6 oak, 7 toasted almond, 8 caramel, 9 vanilla, 10 cinnamon, 11 mint, 12 black pepper.

The aromas are classified in families on the book's companion aroma wheel.

This illustrated and instructive book recounts the story and secrets of making American whiskey, largely unknown beyond the borders of its birthplace. What is a straight American whiskey? Or sour mash? What effect does using barrels made from American oak (Quercus alba) bring?

The foreword is written by Chris Morris, master distiller at Woodford Reserve and a famous name in bourbon circles who created the American whiskey aroma wheel more than 20 years ago.

Renowned journalists and authors Hans and Becky Offringa aka The Whisky Couple tell the fascinating story of American whiskey, from the origins of the distilling process to the current proliferation of craft distillers via the dark days of the Prohibition era.

An impressive map of the United States identifies 122 distilleries whose bourbons and  whiskeys are listed by aroma group in the book's last chapter.
